About Nicole

My dedication to work in the field of mental health started long before my studies and career. With this passion of mine, the seed was planted early on. I had obtained my Bachelors in Psychology and soon after obtained my Masters in Social Work. I had a variety of research focuses during my graduate studies; from human trafficking to psychopathology. However, it wasn’t until I was a few years into my career that I discovered my niche for working with trauma, more specifically, understanding the often misunderstood diagnosis of C-PTSD, otherwise known as Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

I have been granted the privilege to work with a wide range of clients, which has helped further develop my skill in tailoring therapeutic services based on specific needs presented. Each individual is unique, and therefore, should have a treatment plan that fits accordingly. My experience includes work with Anxiety, Depression, Marital and Familial Conflict, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Substance Use, OCD, Trauma, Life Transitions, and issues relating to the LGBTQIA+ community. The modalities that I implement include but are not limited to, CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, Family Systemic Work and more.

I come from the school of thought that the client is their own expert, I am merely a guide to help develop a sense of deeper understanding. I help promote change in behavior and/or self acceptance through that development of understanding, as well as facilitate advocacy for and on behalf of my client.

During my time away from my practice, I serve as faculty at Florida International University. I enjoy reading, watching movies, going to the beach or botanical gardens, discovering new restaurants, spending time with my family and friends, and traveling to new places.
